Desk Ticker Support
Apple TV · tvOS 18 or later
Desk Ticker turns an Apple TV into a live wallboard for your Zoho Desk team. Open tickets glow green, orange, or red by how long the customer has been waiting, overdue tickets scroll along the bottom, and optional chimes sound when a ticket arrives or turns red.
What you need
- An Apple TV running tvOS 18 or later.
- A Zoho Desk account for your team.
- A Zoho API client, created once by your Zoho administrator (steps below).
- Optionally, a phone on the same network as the Apple TV, for quick setup.
Just want to look around? Choose Try demo mode on the first screen to run the ticker with sample tickets — no Zoho account needed.
Setting up
- On a computer, go to api-console.zoho.com, choose Add Client, then Non-browser Applications. Give it any name. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret.
- If your Zoho account is outside the US data center, open the client's Settings tab and turn on Multi-DC.
- On the Apple TV, open Desk Ticker and choose Set up Zoho sign-in.
- Scan the QR code with a phone on the same network, paste the Client ID and Secret, pick your data center, and tap Send to TV. No phone? Choose Enter on this TV instead.
- The TV then shows a short code. On any phone or computer, go to the Zoho address shown, enter the code, and approve. The ticker starts on its own.
The first time you use phone setup, tvOS asks to let Desk Ticker find devices on your local network. Choose Allow — that's how your phone reaches the TV.
Common questions
What does each color mean?
Green means the ticket is still within your response target, orange that it's getting close, and red that it's overdue. The defaults are orange at 30 minutes and red at 45; change them in Settings → Response timer. Any reply, comment, logged call, status change, or assignment by your team stops the clock.
How much of our Zoho API allowance does it use?
Each check uses about two Zoho API credits. At the default of every 30 seconds, that's roughly 5,800 credits a day per TV. Check less often in Settings → Updates, or use Sleep hours to pause overnight and on weekends — no credits are used while it sleeps.
The Apple TV keeps going to sleep.
Make sure Settings → Display → Keep Apple TV awake is on. Also turn off your television's own eco or auto power-off timer, which the Apple TV can't control.
Can it change anything in Zoho Desk?
No. Desk Ticker asks Zoho only for read-only access. It can't reply to, edit, assign, or close tickets.
Our account has more than one Desk organization.
Desk Ticker shows the first organization on the account. If you need a different one, sign in with an account that belongs to that organization.
How do I sign out or switch accounts?
Open Settings (the gear at the top right of the ticker) and choose Sign out under Account.
Where does our data go?
Only between Zoho and your TV — never to us. See the Desk Ticker privacy details.
